Porangaba Tea and Weight Loss

Losing weight by drinking herbal teas even if they come from exotic countries such as Porangaba tea seems highly unlikely. After all, if it would be that easy then no one would be sweating in the gym and paying attention to calories. On the other hand, you could benefit from weight loss teas such as Porangaba tea. Let's see why.

Porangaba tea, also known as cha de bugre is a weight loss tea which is obtained from a small tree called Cordia salicifolia that is native to Brazil and tropical forests in Argentina and Paraguay. This tree produces small, red berries which are used to prepare a very popular coffee-like beverage, while the leaves of the tree are used for the Porangaba tea which claims to help lose weight. It does not promise to burn fat like most other types of weight loss teas but it works by suppressing appetite and making you feel fuller sooner. As a result, you will eat smaller but more frequent meals which is according to many weight loss experts an effective way to get rid of excess pounds. But there is more. Some studies suggest that drinking Porangaba tea may also help fight cellulite and promote cardiovascular health, help prevent cancer and viral infections including cold sores which are caused by herpes simplex virus 1.

If the Porangaba tea is really as healthy as it claims to be remains uncertain because more studies are required to confirm the mentioned health benefits. The opinions about its weight loss benefits are divided as well, however, it cannot hurt to try especially if having problems with hunger cravings which can seriously interfere with your efforts to achieve a healthy body weight. After all, you most likely have to work or study while trying to lose weight and it is very difficult to concentrate on work if having a persistent feeling of hunger. Porangaba tea helps fight the feeling of hunger caused by reduced caloric intake and may make the switch to a healthy diet a lot easier.

There are no known side effects of this popular weight loss tea but it is important to keep in mind that it contains caffeine which can cause adverse effects in caffeine-sensitive individuals. It is also believed to act as a diuretic which can cause problems if you are taking lithium. Please consult with your doctor before using any weight loss tea including cha de bugre if being pregnant or breast-feeding, if having a medical condition or taking any medications. Also, keep in mind that successful weight loss requires dietary changes and regular exercise regardless if you are drinking weight loss tea or not.
