Poor Nutrition - Is It Killing You?

Your Biggest Enemy In Achieving Optimal Health
Staying current with modern trends in health and nutrition can be daunting but I've found one simple truth in the theme of all I've researched...
One thing is clear, like a Tsunami warning signal, it sounds but most of us are still in the lowlands and haven't reached the mountains of relative safety yet. It may seem impossible to get there but there is hope for those who choose to embrace it. You can climb that mountain and reach a safe, abundant life.
So what is this thing that nearly 90% of modern diseases have been associated with this you ask?
It's Chronic Systemic Inflammation (CSI). For you crime show enthusiasts, this acronym should be easy to remember! CSI is the root cause of many health problems and modern diseases and is your biggest enemy in achieving your optimal health potential.
Now, Inflammation itself is not entirely a bad thing. Our body has good intentions of keeping us alive and well, doing some pretty amazing things to this effort.
The body's inflammatory response is actually quite intriguing. It triggers when tissues are injured by bacteria, trauma, toxins, heat, or any other cause. The damaged cells release chemicals including histamine, bradykinin, and prostaglandins. These chemicals cause blood vessels to leak fluid into the tissues, causing swelling to occur (inflammation), which helps isolate the foreign substance from further contact with body tissues.
Your Immune System is designed to protect your body by keeping you safe from germs and viruses. When our bodies are exposed to dangerous forms of bacteria, toxins, viruses or any substances that appear foreign and harmful, our immune system kicks, releasing chemicals like histamines, prostaglandins and bradykinin, making our white blood cells swam in like little soldiers waging war with the foreign intruders. Our bodies do this so that the foreign substance can't spread to other tissue and make us really sick... or even die.
Pretty amazing, right?
Unfortunately, inflammation has a much darker side that is affecting the health and lives of millions of unsuspecting people just like yourself...
Inflammation is fine as nature intended, in short amounts to protect our bodies, but like most things in nature, the key is in the dosage...
If it becomes a constant part of your physiology, becomes chronic or systemic, that's when you run head first into some serious health problems. CSI has been associated with factors leading to life threatening health conditions and most doctors are utilizing pharmaceuticals in lieu of getting to the root cause.
So what can you do to take proper action to safe guard your health?
First you need to ask, "What causes nasty lurking Chronic Systemic Inflammation"?
My summation, modern day society. Most of us are over stressed, under rested, starved of essential nutrients and full of Sh... t!
  • Too Much Stress
Modern life is full of frustrations, deadlines, and demands. For many people, stress is so commonplace that it has become a way of life. Stress isn't always bad, though. Stress within your comfort zone can help you perform under pressure, motivate you to do your best, even keep you safe when danger looms. But beyond your comfort zone, stress stops being helpful and can start causing major damage to your mind and body.
Your nervous system responds by releasing a flood of stress hormones, including adrenaline and cortisol, which rouse the body for emergency action. Constant elevation of these hormones in your daily life can raise blood pressure, wreak havoc with your immune system, increase the risk of heart attack and stroke, speed up the aging process and leave you vulnerable to a host of mental and emotional problems.
Allowing Chronic Stressors in your life is serious business. So make more time for yourself, do something you enjoy and relax!
  • Not Enough Quality Sleep
Modern life is so busy and fast paced that most of us don't set aside enough time each night to get the sleep our bodies desperately need.
Sleep is VITAL because it has a restorative effect on our body's cells. Even if you enjoy a healthy, nutritious diet, get enough exercise and are a master at controlling your stress levels, if you don't get enough sleep, your body can't effectively heal itself.
So turn off the Boob Tube and get some sleep!
  • Poor Nutrition
The food you eat can have a profound effect on your mood, how well you cope with life's stressors and your overall health.
There are many nasty culprits plaguing the modern western diet: processed and convenience food, refined carbohydrates, and sugary snacks
Not only do they keep you fat, lazy, and depressed, these so called "foods" (or poison as I like to call it), are PRO - INFLAMMATORY.
Remember how I talked about the dangers of Chronic Systemic Inflammation above? Well, putting pro-inflamatory substances into your body day in and day out are bound to get you on the right track for serious mental and physical health issues.
A simple rule of thumb is to consider the following: If it contains flour, and/or sugar or other sweetener, it will be pro-inflammatory. You would do well to remove anything with these in your diet.
  • Gut Health Out Of Whack
Most of us really are full of Sh... t! We just don't know it or how to change it. But digestive problems wreak havoc over your entire body contributing to a myriad of unpleasant problems; allergies, arthritis, autoimmune disease, rashes, acne, chronic fatigue, mood disorders, autism, dementia, cancer and more. The immune system response is Inflammation, and it rapidly becomes both chronic and systemic if your gut health is continually out of whack.
You must nourish and protect your gut flora. Do away with foods that damage your gut - Processed Foods (especially sugars) all gluten containing foods. It is also wise to limit your consumption of antibiotics to when they're absolutely necessary. Solution: opt for whole, raw organic, non-genetically modified foods, along with Probiotic Rich foods such as traditionally fermented and cultured foods, e.g. Kimchi and Sauerkraut.
KNOWLEDGE IS POWER
I realize this may frighten some but there is really no reason to fear. Knowledge is power you are making a positive forward step just by reading this. The fact that you are here reading this tells me that you do want to improve your health and have more energy and feel amazing too?
... Of course you do, that's why you are here!
I firmly believe that by addressing the root causes of CSI that are affecting some part of your health, you're increasing your odds immensely...
Did you notice that Poor Nutrition is really at the heart of all of the above mentioned causes of CSI? If you are not getting the nutrients you body needs and instead are bombarding it with poisons, you feel tired and depressed which makes you want to eat more of the junk that's causing you to feel that way! Then you stress out because you can't keep up with all the things you would like to and because you don't like the way you look and feel. This stress affects your ability to sleep and your gut. So you are not getting the quality sleep your body needs to make necessary repairs and you are bloated and gassy, with intermittent IBS. If you begin taking steps, baby steps is highly recommended for continued success, to alter your diet (what you put into your body) you will ultimately feel less stressed, thus able to sleep better and your gut will be happy that you are no longer full of Sh... t!
I'm sure you are excited to get started right away but remember, don't try to change everything overnight. Baby steps! Start eliminating harmful foods one by one rather than all at once and try replacing each thing you remove with something new that promotes your optimal health. Make a conscious effort to get more sleep and take time to relax and enjoy, do something you love at least once a week. I'm positive you will begin to feel better right away knowing you have made a powerful choice to change your life and health for the better.
I hope this was an enjoyable read and most importantly helpful and informative.
